Two Iranian short films have been selected to screen at the Mill Valley Film Festival in the US state of California next month.
Iranian short films ‘Lunch Time’ by Alireza Qasemi and ‘Not Yet’ by Aryan Vazir-Daftari will go on screen in the 5@5 section of the festival, organizers of the event announced recently.
‘Not Yet’ tells the story of a middle-aged couple who try to celebrate their expatriate young daughter’s birthday via a popular social networking application.
‘Lunch Time’ is about a 16-year-old girl who is tasked with the arduous bureaucracy of having to identify the body of her mother.
The short film has participated in numerous international film festivals, going on to win several awards, including the best short student film award from the Snakes Alley Festival in the US, as well as the best title, the best dialogue and the best screenplay from the Porto Alegre Screenwriting Festival in Brazil.
Meanwhile, ‘Not Yet’ has won two awards from the Busan International Film Festival from South Korea.
The Mill Valley Film Festival will be held in the city of San Rafael from October 5-15.
